Description
He Huan Pi – 合欢皮
Latin name: Cortex Albizziae
Common name: Silktree Bark / Mimosa Bark
Part used: Bark / Cortex
Traditional meridian affiliation: Heart, Liver
He Huan Pi (合欢皮) is derived from the bark of Albizia julibrissin. In the TCM framework, it is considered to assist in smoothing the flow of Liver Qi and calming the spirit, while also supporting the circulation of Qi and blood. It has a mild nature and a sweet flavour.
Because of its more astringent and supporting quality (relative to He Huan Hua, the flower), He Huan Pi is typically used to address symptoms of Qi stagnation manifesting as pain, distention, or constraint in the chest or flank, particularly when accompanied by emotional tension or irritability. It is also used to support mood regulation and relieve distending discomfort in chest/epigastrium when the primary pattern involves stagnation and tension.
Phoenix Medical’s He Huan Pi is cultivated under DaoDi principles in its traditional source regions. It is grown without synthetic herbicides or pesticides, dried without sulphur, and processed in GMP-certified facilities. All batches are fully traceable and undergo strict testing to satisfy EU and UK requirements for purity, safety, and potency.
